Sony VAIO FW Hinge Problem (Loose/Broken)

I've encountered a problem with my fairly new Sony VAIO FW. The left hinge has gotten loose, and after doing some research on the Internet, I now realize that is a fabrication problem.

I've dropped it in my local shop and they forwarded it to Sony, who - as I feared from reading other peoples experiences - claim that it is I who has broken the machine. I must say that I feel very screwed over - I use the VAIO as a stationary, and I don't travel with it, and I can therefore say that I'm 100% sure that I don't have any blame in this.

Is this really how you treat your customers, Sony?
