Windows 7 clean install VGN-FS295VP Driver Problems

I hope someone can point me in the right direction to get my Vaio working propoerly.

I recently did a full (clean) upgrade from XP to Win7 on my trusty VGN-FS295VP. All went really well and after tracking down a few elusive drivers the machine runs well and is stable. Only problems relate to the keyboard and power management.

Since upgrade none of the fn keys wrok. No volume up/down, brightness, contrast, s1,s2, etc. Also power drains from the battery really quickly; I can only run for about 30-40mins before crtical battery level is reached.

Can anyone tell me which drivers I need and where to get them to get things reaonably back to normal?

Hi JoeH1 and welcome.

Try installing all the Vista utilities for your model here: -

http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/vaio/downloads/updates/index.aspx?l=en_GB&m=VGN-FS295VP&os=7

To get the keys working install the following IN ORDER: -

Sony Utils DLL
Sony Shared Library
Vaio Event Service
Setting Utility Series

You may also wish to install most of the others as well like Vaio Control Centre.

Thanks so much for your very quick reply.
I had to try your suggestion twice but then all worked just great.
First time I did not uninstall the various drivers & Utils. Second time, I uninstalled all four items that you mentioned and restarted the computer. Then I installed each driver in the order you mentioned and made sure I restarted after each install.
The machine runs brilliantly and all keys work. Hopefully this will also reduce my battery usage as I can now dim the screen when running on batteries.
Is there a way to setup a power scheme so that the display automatically dims when on battery power?

Hi Joe - glad that all worked!

You can do what you want in the Power Management Option in Windows 7.

Have a look at this link: -

You can set up High Performance, Balanced and Power Saver Modes as you like them.

I've had a look at this but I cannot see how to automatically reduce the brightness of the screen when on battery power. I'll keep digging through the options though.
