Sounds serious!

Please can you give us your Vaio model and when you bought it?

Some models are prone to a nVidia chip issue and they qualify for an extended guarantee to fix the problem.

and type 'Distorted Video' into the search box. Click on the useful link to the article called 'Distorted Video ............'.

Check your symptoms because your model is one of those affected.
