Vaio guide!

hi guys im new here and i got a vaio these days, i register it online and i saw a shot movie about vaio guide, to be honest never seen that green icon called vaio Guide on my laptop!
what can i do to have it ? i have something else called vaio gate ..but is not the same as vaio guied ..can someone give me some help how do i get vaio guiede program ? that green icon..on my desktop..

Hi danixing and welcome.

Have you looked under Start > All Programs? If the shortcut link is not there then you may still be able to run the guide by double clicking ‘VGuide.exe’ at the following location:

C:\Program Files\Sony\VAIO Guide\VGuide.exe

If the above is present then you can create a Desktop shortcut by right clicking the executable and select ‘Send to’ > Desktop (create shortcut).

If VGuide is missing altogether then you should be able to reinstall the application using Vaio Recovery Center > Reinstall Programs or Drivers.

Thank you for your help , i looked for what you said but it looks like my VGuide is missing, so i have to reinstall the application using Vaio Recovery Center, if i use this, will this app restore everything in my computer to the factory settings or nothing else will happen except to install the Vguide i need ?
and its something else i wanna know..i got my vaio from Greece and im not greek, i am just liviing in Greece, so i registered it on english interface of vaio website actually on the uk one, is this a problem ? coz yesterday i got a message on my desktop in the right part down to register my vaio, but i already did that and when i register it i got an e-mail with the activation code , but i dnt know what to do with the activation code , activation code for what ?
i know few of my questions will sound silly but its my first vaio ..hope u understand..

If you choose the option to restore an individual program then no other changes will be made to your system.

Open Vaio Control Center > Reinstall Programs or Drivers > Click Start > Check ‘Skip’ and click Next > Click Next again > select the Programs tab and scroll down to Vaio User Guide, check this and click Next.

This of course assumes that Vaio User Guide is bundled with your model...

As far as I am aware it makes no difference which European interface you use to register your Vaio but I will take further guidance on this and get back to you.

I did as you said, i have installed Vaio User Guide again, i found it there where you told me and it said to me that was installed and i have to restart it , i did as it said and after when i checked if Vaio User Guide is there i couldn't find it , not even in start >all programs... i've been looking in Control Panel also at installed progs but is not there :-??, maybe my Vaio model wich is VGN-NW21EF it doesn't come with this Vaio Uer guide ...
i will try to install it again ..maybe will work ..

Hi danixing,

If Vaio User Guide is appearing in the list of available programs to reinstall I can only assume that your machine came bundled with that application, so I am somewhat puzzled as to why it is not installing successfully.

To eliminate a third party software application preventing the install can you try the same reinstall procedure in safe mode (tap F8 at boot when you see the Vaio Logo and select ‘Safe Mode’)?

I assume that you are logged in as an administrator?

sorry for my late replay but the vaio club website had a prob...i couldn't long in ..so bk to what i asked you... i have installed it from safe mode and still same thing nothing happened no User Guide icon at all i looked all over..even when i have iinstalled it it said that the program was installed you need to restart i did as it said but still nothing..i think i give up on this..i was thinking the User Guide will help me a lot coz its my first vaio..but no User Guide , thank you for your time and your help :)..ohh i have something to show you i did a print screen of it..i told you i have registered my vaio online and that window still apear sometime..saying to me to register my vaio..and i didnt want to press the key that says " don't remind me " bc im thinking once that i have registered it online should automatically be recognized as registered already i mean should be like this ..so bc that warning shows up sometimes i am thinking to not have a prob and not be registered my vaio..what is your advice to do? what do you think about it ?
