VAIO Z Battery Drain

Hi folks,

Anyone out there has problem with their battery? My VAIO Z battery is draining by itself even when it's fully charged. And it's a brand new laptop less than a month old. Any idea why? Please advise. Thanks.

Hi ELIB and welcome.

I presume your battery drains when the Vaio is switched off? - If so then you are not alone!

This seems to be common on some models and Sony regard this as normal behaviour - however I do wonder why it is common on some models and not on others. You may find this thread interesting reading: -

Hi.
I have the same problem with my VAIO VGN-Z51XG. The battery is draining a 15-20% of charge in 24 h, when the VAIO is switched off.
And for VAIO-support is a ¿¿NORMAL?? behaviour.

It's the soft power button...
That fancy greeny power on/off button needs to be powered

If you really need the battery to be fully charged in the next day, try to remove it the night before.

The boot up also consumes a lot of energy so I think 15% is a resonable consumption.
