how can i access e-bay? it would not let me for some reason.

Is it just eBay or do you have the same problem with Amazon and some Microsoft websites?
What version of Internet Explorer are you using?
XP/Vista/Windows 7?

If you are using IE8 and cannot connect to other secure sites have a look here: -

If it is just eBay, you could try using Firefox rather than IE.

I presume you have run an antivirus scan?

welcome to Club VAIO..

The problem could be due to visitor overload at eBay, if you're still having problems first try temporarily disabling your firewall..

If the problem still remains try running Internet Explorer without add ons, there are couple of ways to do this..

If you have an Internet Explorer icon on your desktop, right click on the icon and click on Start without Add ons.

Or

Click Start all programs then click on Accessories, followed by System tools and finally click on Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons)
