Sony Vaio FR415B +SP2

I received my sp2 upgrade disk from microsoft today,and decided to post here before i installed it to see if anyone has any problems when they installed SP2
my vaio is Model PCG-FR415B.

Can't say I have but you should do the following:

* Backup all of your vital data
* Backup any applicable recovery partitions
* Visit this Microsoft website
* Download Lavasoft's Ad-aware SE software (even Microsoft recommend it!)
* Visit VAIO-Link (the link is in my signature) for vital Sony updates for your computer. Failing to do this may cause SP2 to fail!

ive allready been to check for sony updates,and logged onto the ms windows update site,and the reason i made this post is because the ms windows updates site doesnt list sp2 as a update when its done its scan,so thats worrying me,surely this 1 year old viao can be updated to use xp-sp2.

I would have thought so. If you have any doubts please phone VAIO-Link (again the link is in my signature), and ask them if its safe to upgrade your Windows Installation to Service Pack 2.

My laptop needed a BIOS update before I could proceed so it is worth checking...

Service Pack 2 has improved or fixed these odd problems:
* Slow or non-existing Help and Support Centre
* Odd Hard Disk problems
* Sluggish behaviour
* Problems with the CDRW/DVD Drive

So it is worth the upgrade:smileywink:

As James says best to get rid of spyware before doing it, as it's just wasting hard disk and resources.
