Modem problem - PCG-FX203

Hard disk wiped and W2K Pro SP3 installed. Modem worked ok with previous cr*ppy ME installation, but cannot get ANY drivers to work with it now.

Device Manager shows PCI Device and Unknown Device with question marks against them. One of these presumably is the modem, but dunno what the other one is - everything except the modem is installed and working fine.

Anyone any clues on how to get this modem working please?

Have you tried loading the Preinstalled Drivers and Utilities Packages from the Vaio-Link download site?

Thanks for the welcome!

I have in fact just this second cracked the problem... The supposedly correct Sony VAIO modem driver for W2K doesn't work for me, but I downloaded conexant-ambitSoftk56.EXE from www.driverguide.com and it's ok now. It dials out ok, but doesn't output sound to the speaker. However, that's a small price to pay...

Thats a good thing, that modulation noise used to drive me crazy.

Congrats on fixing it yourself.
