I'm off to America with my Vaio for a short business trip soon. The power adapter says it works with any voltage between 100-240, so can I just stick an American plug on a 13-amp 4-way plugblock and use that for power (My digital camera also has the same stated voltage range)? Is there anything else I need to take into account?

You should be OK. The European models (well the UK ones at least) have an adaptor in the plug. On these you can unscrew the plug and reveal a two-pin shaver type plug, the power supply is smart enough to identify the voltage used.

If you do not have a two-pin plug, then you will need an adaptor to convert the UK three-pin plugs to two-pin plugs.

I would recommend a surge protector to prevent damage caused by surges.
