Hi folks,

the fact that the VGN-S2HP has no built-in microphone and only the XP SP2 Bluetooth stack forces me to install the Widcomm Bluetooth-Drivers. I need the hands-free profile which is not supported by XP2 in order to connect my BT headset to my notebook. But where can I find it? Is the Widcomm diver free software? Can I install the one from my Dell Notebook on the Vaio?

Kind regards,

Falco

I read on some hacking-forum not being able to use headset-profiles is due to a flaw in the firmware of the BT device. There is an updated firmwares, which might solve the issue. Has something to do with streaming data. Unfortunatly, it has to be cracked in order to upload it to the BT-device. Not very legit and convenient.

But it requires both cracked firmware and cracked drivers. I'd really reallylike to have headset support as well, but this is just too messy for me.

I think it is something Sony has to solve. This sucks big time. Now I have to use a old crappy wired headset to use VoIP on my very expensive Vaio, instead of a nice BT headset.

Please, look in the suitable link that I believe will to solve the problem.

How can I receive a file from another bluetooth device on my VAIO?

Solution:

In order to receive a file through Bluetooth, you need to configure the computer to be able to receive the file:

OK, quite nice, but that's not the problem. I don't want to receive files, I want to use my BT headset and that's something that will not work with the provided BT functionality of XP SP2. Sony should have implemented the Widcomm Stack. What kind of use does this Bluetooth have? None! It's crappy, it works really boring, th SP2 stack has lots of problems with the COM-Ports. Sorry, that's not why I have spent about 2000 Euros for a notebook that doesn't even have a built-in microphone (every discounter notebook even does have one).

I tried to follow jonsguides.com but couldn't get that one working. I installed the Widcomm drivers from IBM without problems, but it says that the BT device cannot be found. I also apllied the Widcomm-Patch, but that didn't help, too.

@Kee-Lo:
Did you mean you haven't heard of my problems or of the things Fuzzillogic described (if it's the last one, I agree). The Widcomm-"Hack" works fine with USB-BT Dongles, but as always, the internal devices of notebooks guarantee to make problems.

So, any more ideas? Any feedback from Sony?
