problems with continous autofocus on Sony Alpha 7

I have bought a Sony Alpha 7, with an E-Mount 50mm F1.8 OSS Lens and a Sony E-Mount 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 Telephoto Zoom Lens.

At the beginning I have used them on static themes. It was ok, quick autofocus for both lenses. Big was my surprise, and a bad one, when I tried tu use the camera for mobile subjects. with continous AF (AF-c) It was focusing very very slowly, an most of mz photos were blurred.

It is a problem which needs service, or a general problem a week point of the camera type? the camera has the newest version, 3.2

I am waiting your suggestions advices.

Hi,

Are you saying that the S18-50 isn't having the auto focus issue anymore? You didn't mention anything about service so I'm a bit confused *_*

If there was a service event, which parts were inspected? the body of the camera or the lenses? (maybe both?)

The 1,8-50 had a difdeerent problem, so I did not mention it, however it was an AF problem too. on F1,8-8 it worked well, but at 9 or more was continously focusing, it was impossible to focus on any object. It were changed in the service some parts of the obiectiv, and the camera was resofted.

I did not try to use the fix 50mm lens for sports. It is not suited for. Except the case you want to see the birds on the photo with microscope

maybe it worth a try with cars? Let me try today, A little bit later, because my camera is in the bedroom, and it is early morning in Australia.

It will be interesting to see the result of that test. Since the body of the camera is the common factor here, I think you should try resetting it if that hadn't done that in a while too.

I have made some experiments today. The AF-c is OK with the 50mm lens, and also with the 70-300 if I use it at 70 mm. If I use it with 300 mm trying to make several photos of a departing car, the auto focus is ok, then "lost" and and Ok again after a while.
conclusion : The real problem is, that using this lens for subiects being far from me, AF becomes very slow. For subiects at 3-4 m it is OK. it is not an AF-c problem, onlz of speed of focusing at distant subiects.

I have uploaded thee photos, ISO 100, F-4,5, 300 mm, 1/125 sec, AF-C the first one is in focus, the second is not (see the number) the third one is not perfect, but in focus. again.
