topic Rode Stereo VideoMic Pro Level Issues in Alpha & NEX interchangeable lens cameras

I have a Rode Stereo VideoMic Pro that I'm trying to use with my A7IV (also have the identical issue with my A6100 as I've tested to see if the camera jack port was faulty!) but the audio levels are way off.

Channel 1 is around 20db quieter than Channel 2 and no matter where I speak into the mic, it doesn't seem to be recognising left and right. It's as if there's a safety track but I know this mic doesn't support it.

I've tested the mic directly into the motherboard on my PC and it 100% works correctly with full stereo and picks up which direction I'm speaking in.

I've plugged in another mic and a direct audio source into the Mic input on the cameras and they work completely fine.

I did replace the mic as I thought it was faulty but I'm completely confused..
