Update to 23.4.A.1.232

I have just tried to update my Z3 (D6603) to 23.4.A.1.232, it is now stuck in a boot loop. When I have tried PC Companion to repair the installation, it gets so far and keeps telling me that I am not connected to the internet (when I obviously am). Please anyone HELP!

Seems that there is something that blocks PC Companion from connecting to the internet. Most likely it's a firewall that's set to block the software. I suggest that you check the settings in your firewall to make sure it's allowed there.

Hi xavinux,

I have gone into my firewall and checked it but to no avail, it just won't connect.

Also my phone in stuck in boot loader loop and I cant get it out of it.

Is there anyway around using PC Companion?

Please, try to:

- Uninstall PC Companion
- Re-install PC companion
- Restart your PC
- Connect the device to PC
- Check for update (via PC companion)
- Download the update (via pc companion)

Hi xavinux,

done all that, even used revo uninstaller free to clean up the files after uninstalling. Used different usb ports.

PC Companion updates it self with no problems even downloads files in prepration of the update, but when it gets to the phone update, it all stops.

You might want to look into flashtool to restore your phone to a working status with a FTF firmware. You can find everything @xda

Then try to update again with PCC.

BTW are you sure you got a *.232 update? Haven't seen anyone with that firmware and it doesn't show anywhere as released...

Thanks to xavinux and MasterTB,

I was not sure which version I was updating to, just guessed on the lastest.

As for installing a new flashware, I cant even get the phone to boot up properly, so would flashtool help me?

My priority at the moment is to get the phone operating again, after that I may never update it again!

Also awaiting a reply from Sony to see what else I can do.

In this case, you will be able to install Lollipop using XperiFirm and Flashtool. And you don´t need an unlocked bootloader or root for you to flash your handset.

@mrsoundie: Go to this XDA thread you will find there the Guide to using Flashtool and a list of FTF firmwares ready to use to flash your phone.

Flashtool is the solution for you and it will get your phone to a working status again.

After that, you can either Root and install a Recovery -that will let you keep up to date using .zip format firmwares that you can flash through recovery (keeping root of course)

Or you can connect your phone to PCC and keep up to date with the latest Sony Stock firmwares.

It's not a complicated process, read all before doing it but, you will be fine.

Yes it can be, and of course if you also root your device or open the bootloader may void your warranty. And remember PC Companion cannot be used to install official updates on devices with unlocked bootloader, you will need Emma in that case. Please I suggest you check this link:

Thank you to everyone who posted a suggestion, the problem has been solved.

Today using a friends laptop we eventually managed to get the phone updated. This took four hours of downloading before the installation took place, phone now is working away fine (Build 23.4.A.1.200). It boggles the mind that it could take four hours to download the update (which to our calculations is only 1.5 Gb). Sony need to sort this out, as it seems that I am not the only one to suffer from this terrible lack of speed. This slowness caused PC Comapnion to beleive that there was no internet connection. How that works, I don't know.
