I've had a sony xperia z3 compact for a few months now.
May be worth noting this phone can get really hot when in use for instance if ive been using it for a while or if im using a game on it such as sim city.
Sometimes the touch screen gets a little unresponsive. Usually banging the phone down on a surface (not too hard) seems to resolve it...
Well today it was a bit warm and suddenly the whole top half of the screen stopped working. I was a bit stressed, id missed a train and had to make an important phone call to say id be late so after restarting it to no avail i did the usual tap..well i guess i was abit stressed and banged a little hard the scren cracked oops. Anyway now the whole screen doesnt respond to touch (although i can still see it fine). I thought id try and see if any of the problem was software based but on pc companion following the steps as normal it doesnt work when i recconect the device while off holding the volume down button. May be because i am using an ancient computer (windows vista). It recongises the device when its on just not when its off.
Do you think half the screen not working was a hardware problem and i should just go get the screen fixed. Im on a low pay job atm and would be pretty if i fixed the screen and it still didnt work...

Sorry to hear this but you would need to either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care and have your device inspected http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
