This isn't a touch screen issue, it's a software bug. For me, all started with. 270 update. This proximity sensor bug happens very rarely to me though

I have started getting this problem after the Lollipop udate to 14.5.A.0.270 (which is strange since a another thread is speaking of that particular build to be the problem resolution). Now the sensor works randomly. My impression is that it works more often than not, but it's very annoying when I accidentally change settings during calls, when my ear touch the screen. What usually happens is that the shortcuts in the pulldown menu gets activated (wifi, hotspot, screen light, rotate screen, flight mode etc)

I haven't made any other changes to the phone and I don't have a screen protector on it. The sensor has always worked perfectly since I bought it about a year ago. I can only assume it is sw related.

Same for me. I had this this bug on both 242 and I also have it on 270.

Sometimes screen is off but touch sensor continues to work, sometimes even screen stays on.

This is the most annoying bug on LP builds because it affects the most basic feature of the phone.

I assume this is related with the touch screen and not proximity sensor. See a thread regarding touch screen issue which remains active even after display is off. http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1-Compact/Bug-exploit-or-feature/m-p/1007918#U1007918 May be a Sony official can share some light on this issue.
