Hi, I updated my Z1C the other day but after charging it, it say's that it only 16 hours after all the stamina mode are activated. Then I did a software repair thru PC Companion, then i got 3 days 9 hours battery life after repair and after recharging to 100%. After some usage of maybe 25%, when i checked the standby time, i got only 13 hours left. Is this bug in the new software which will eventually getting back to normal level of battery life or should i need to revert back to Kitkat?

Lollipop update is a mixed bag

So I just got Lollipop on my Z1C and had alot of expectations. Sadly it has more downsides for me at the moment.

The interface is pretty inconsistent and the white color ... oh my god I need to wear sunglasses now when operating on my phone. The autobrightness that had same flukes in Kitkat seems to be here as well (it's increasing the brightness when the background has white or any light colors in it and not based on the ambient light). Basically I can't use the phone during nighttime if I want to read something without disabling autobrightness or else my eyes bleed. Speaking about inconsistencies what is this Sony on the right the "thing" there was just slapped on in the last seconds? I bet is isn't hard to use same design you used to clear the dropdown notifications, something similar to what I "painted" on the left.

Next up some other inconsistencies. Though our phone can do 4K video recording (yes it can, it's not a hardware limitation ... just Sony limitation and I don't need to prove this you already know) I was happy we at least got 1080p@60FPS on Lollipop. Or did we? The screen below is from a video shot at 1080p@60FPS, or well at least that's what the camera app thinks so.

Oh yes that is 30FPS and I'm not the only one reporting this issue, XDA threads started to notice this too.

Next up some benchmarkings that I thought would at least be as good as Kitkat if not better. Well I guess I was wrong again. I ran the test 3 times to be sure and got similar results, nothing over 40k and that runtime ... well something is wrong there for sure.

I'm not trying to make a hate thread here since I stuck with Sony since my first smartphone but some stuff here kind of demonstrates someone is not doing his job right and for sure it isn't me.

Since 5.0.2 will probably be the last update for Z1C I'm dissapointed a bit but I also have nothing to worry about in the same time since the lovely devs and mods on XDA will do better. I do feel sorry for the average users though that doesn't tinker with his phone. They will just have to manage with this.

Doesn't matter if it is with or without Steady Shot. It is still only 30FPS. HDR even is not possible to turn on while is 60fps mode chosen.

This is just pretty annoying. We were wainting for Lollipop like something about six months for now and you're not able to do it without bugs? I understand if there are small bugs, you just can not eliminate them all on the first time, but this? Oh, how is this even possible to screwed up? No one at Sony tried if it is really recording at framerate it actually has to?

Guys on XDA are able to do a port with 4k, 120fps and 60fps, but you, Sony (with all the source codes), you brought us only 60fps (and i'm okay with that), which isn't actually working? Great.

So, I hope it will get fixed soon.

Play3man, I can not try it because I already have kitkat, but in kitkat with the native camera app, if you choose hdr in options it récords in 60 fps, is for that what I asked you if you have chosen the hdr mode in adjust menú.
Can I.asked you a question?? Any improvements in Lollipop for the camera quality photo or camera apps, or double touch to wake the phone, the sound has increased the volume??

Regards

Hi All,

Off late I have observed that my handset - Z1 Compact sometimes drains out drastically from ~40% to 0% instantly. This is not a regular scenario though, it happens sometimes and other times it behaves as usual. Its just an year old. I tried to switch off the Stamina mode just to observe if it was something to do with this feature, but couldn't be sure. I can conclude its a random issue and theres absolutely no pattern that I could derive.

Any similar observations??

-CosmiC

I recently updated my Z1 Compact to Lollipop and it appears that the screen off animation has been removed. When I lock the screen, it just goes black immediately instead of fading out (like stock Lollipop) or the old CRT off animation (like Kit Kat). Can anyone else confirm this is the case? If so, why was the animation removed? If it was to avoid a memory leak bug, will this be added back in if/when Android 5.1 is pushed out to phones? Thanks.

Some observation after upgrading to Lollipop :

1) Mobile is consuming more RAM.

2) Camera's snap quality is still not good. There is lot of noise coming in pictures.

3) Menu appearance is not good, there is huge gap between options and not option to reduce it.

4) No option to manage icon grids., have to use third party theme to manage icons

Please try to fix them ASAP, specially camera which is the main part of phone for which only peoples are buying sony phones and sony is loosing faith of customer due to poor quality of picture quality.

I'm from Croatia, and as there is still no 5.0.2 for us (Central Europe 3), I flashed my z1c tonight with the French generic version.

I find dissapointing that there is no quick way to switch from the call ring sound to the vibration. Instead, I have to press the volume down key and turn the volume down untill the icon changes into a vibration icon. I simply don't like it. It reminds me of Windows 8.1 denim on Lumia phones. They have exactly the same solution. Once again, I don't like it.

I'll have to find a widget to help me manage call sound / vibration combination like I used to do with the old android ICS (4.0).

Another problem: no LED notification for the missed call. The LED works for the missed SMS, but not for the missed call.

Even i have the problem where the battery is somewhere around 40 and then suddenly without warning in a matter of half an hour the phone is completely dead. this is not during usage but on standby. it happens completely randomly. this was the case woth kitkat though.
I updated my Z1C to lollipop yesterday via OTA and dont really like it at all.
1. the themes dont change anything but the system colours. previously in kitkat i was able to change the navigation buttons at the bottom too.
2. the app drawer looks so crammed up and the icons in general have become HUGE.
3. there is no option to switch to vibration/sitent mode from the pull down menu or power button long press.
4. no close all button yet again like in z3, which had it since kitkat.
5. battery drains faster.
6. everything is just too white and bright. my eyes literally hurt more due to this.
