topic Touch screen suddenly stopped working Z3c in XPERIA archive

As the title says - the alarm went off, I woke up and turned it off and then the touch screen stopped responding and has not worked since.

As the touch screen does not work, I can't unlock it, and can't connect it to the PC - I have seen some posts about putting it into recovery mode but so far have only managed to get 'safe mode' (screen still does not work).

I am resigned to losing all the data as I know a reset will either get it working again, or I need a replacement phone - either way it needs to be wiped. Is there a way to do a factory reset without a working digitizer?

You can do a phone repair while phone is off:

- Press power button and volume up for 10 seconds untill it vibrates 3 times.

- Open PC Companion -> Support Zone -> Phone/Tablet software update -> Click on blue link "repair my phone/tablet" -> Accept the data wipe -> proceed untill you're prompted to connect your phone (while off, press and hold volume down and connect USB) -> Download and install.

If that fails then I'm sorry to hear this but you would need to either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care and have your device inspected http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

Thanks for your help, I managed to restore it, sadly it didn't work. Its not a huge problem as I have Orange Care, just disappointing
