Another broken screen query

Hello, im new to this but im after a little information if at all possible...

Basically I dropped my Z3, totally my fault so not a warranty claim at all.... however im having a nightmare getting any joy from Sonymobile support.

We all know that you can get a screen repair anywhere, ranging from probably 60gbp to 170gbp, however I would have prefered Sony to fix this, both to use genuine parts and keep the warranty valid but what a real pain to get an estimate!!!

I called, live chatted and emailed and I just get the same blunt response...Engineers need to see it before giving a price, I fully understand that they cant commit to a price untill they have seen it but trust me eveything works but the touchscreen... plug a mouse in and its perfect so Ive asked again and again to tell me what they charge to replace the screen/digitizer/topglass.. whatever its called but they just wont tell me !!

Does anyone have a clue on a price here ??

I'm in the UK and like Xperia care couldn't give a price as if they did give you a price but then upon taking it apart found a broken screw eyelet or something else which also needed replacing then that would be extra expense which if you declined would still leave you to incur charges and would then leave your warranty void, So in summary they are unable to give a price in case something else is wrong internally

Thanks for the reply mate .....Yes I understand that, i've also put that to them.... I really do appreciate they cant commit to giving a price unless they see the phone, but then again they should be able to say ( especially after me explaining many times the situation ) that a standard screen /glass replacement is xxxxx amount but we cant give a individual price on your particular phone until we see it??

In Poland you would get quote like "at least 570 PLN". Of course quote is for this market and type of device (Z1 in this case). Prices in UK may be way different.

Also check warranty for replaced parts. In my case warranty for replaced parts is only 3 months regardless of the warranty for the rest of the phone.

I believe a few people on here from the UK have quoted around £135 for a screen replacement. My friend just had her daughters done through Ee. It was £132. All in. Hope this helps

Thats perfect, again I wont take this as a sworn price but its a good indication....I spoke to Geeksquad ( carphone warehouse) and I was told 169.99 but they just send it to Sony.... kinda worked out that they would be making some money so I guessed at roughly 150 from sony direct... your figures tie in very closely with that theory.

The phone is now booked in with Sony support and is getting collected in the morning.

Just Thought id update this for anyone maybe wanting the same advise/idea on a screen replacement price in the UK.

Got my quote back and its 125gbp, I think 89 repair.. a handling cost of 22gbp and delivery charge of 13gbp, maybe pennies out on the prices but anyone needing just a rough idea then this is it
