After a week of using Z3 Compact I open a list with good things and bad things about it. Maybe not everyone will agree with the list below. So far no problems with wifi, camera, settings, battery or anything. I didn't put it in the water though because I don't trust the waterproof guarantee I used to have Xperia U.

Bad things:

- the on/off button and volume button are to close. You might close the call when you try to get a higher/lower volume if the button has the option to end the call. They should be much apart.

- the glass and plastic make it very slippery

- the quick launcher button is very sensitive. Whenever I take the phone I take pictures randomly if I'm not careful. That button should be harder to press or to be more inside the edge. Anyway I disactivated it.

- overheating when charging and using camera

- the hearing volume level should get even lower. The minimum level is still to loud and when is silence around the caller still can be heard from the others close to you. Not good when you want your privacy and the caller speaks loud.

- the little red button for the dialing pad is over the recent list of calls so if you're not careful enough you might press a recent call and to make an unwanted call. That red button should have a clean area underneath.

- the video sound is kind of muffled (I don't know the right word for that) but it has no trebles and is very low (comparing with a SG4 for ex). And if I want to record a TV from 4 meters indoors with sound high enough, I can barely hear something. I mean it should be more sensitive to the further sounds. As a phone mic it's very sensitive to the close sounds (obviously) but for video camera should have another sensitivity).

Good things:

- signal led visible

- design

- 2 hrs charging time is ok

- camera very good and video effects - slowmo, steady shot, settings, low noise in photos finally

- very good display even against the Sun.

- surround noise during a call

- LE: many settings and features that avoid installing third party apps

That's what I found so far. More to come if something new occures. Being already an obsolete model maybe the next generation will be more handy.

That's a matter of preference, it doesn't bother me.

2. That's normal on an all glass phone, but you could and should apply a screen film protector

3. That's another preference, you can set it up only to launch the camera or disable it entirely, I prefer this button as it is

4. The phone won't overheat, if it gets too hot, it will shut down

5. I agree with you, in extreme quiet settings it's quite loud.

6. You can download a third party phone app

7. Are you using a third party camera app? any protective case that might be covering the mics?

Of course it's a matter of preference. All of them. It's my opinion about how a mobile should be and how I would feel more comfortable using it. Many could disagree. I wrote it here because many users can reply or express their opinion too which could help Sony as feedback.

No I didn't have a third party camera app when I tested it and I didn't spill anything on it yet (water, Coke, beer or anything) or to try it in water to block the mic. Even when I try to record the sound only with a third party app I have the same result (this one was installed after the video test). I compared it with a SG4 which has a great sound for videos. Compare the 2 phones and you'll see what I mean.

Also the mic is very insensitive. Talking on speaker the other person barely heares me and with interruptions like using wi-fi or something and it's not about the connection. Only if I rase the voice or keep it close to my face can be heard. Mic sensitivity is on Auto mode and mic noise suppression is off equalizer is on normal. Also in videos the sound must be pretty loud to record it ok if it is further like I said.
