Ghost typing swipe on z3

Hi guys,

i bought z3 a couple of weeks ago and I'm facing ghost swipe while typing on keyboard (I reproduced this on xperia keyboard, swiftkey and other apps).

If i type as i did on my old nexus 4 sometimes z3 will recongnize fast types as a swipe.

I had this also on my old Oneplus one and a firware update solved this issue.

I already tried to factory reset, disable glove mode, disable double touch to awake but the problem persist.

Can I have support form Sony to know if a future update will have a more up-to-date digitizer firmware driver?

No... Ringke fusion. Tried with and without screen cover. It behaves the same.

It could be that you have predictive text on ? and as you type the phone try to guess what you are going to say next?

Here you can find my video. I tried with 2 keyboard apps, with a touch tester and with calculator... As you can see when you tap fast it will recognize fast taps as swipes... I forced it but it happens also we you write an sms...

It seems more a sw issue related to touch firmware than an hw issue, maybe it can be confirmed by Sony...

If it was a software isuue it would be global, or at least more users would report it. To eliminate the possibility of being a software issue, I'd suggest that you do a PC Companion phone repair, this will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory. Don't forget to back up your data before you proceed.

Open PC companion -> Support zone -> Phone/tablet software update -> Repair my phone/tablet (blue link style). Follow the steps given, do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable.

Btw this is noticed also by other users on xda (also on xperia z3c, and it was solved with a sw update)

Can you try to reproduce what I did in my video?

I own a Z3 dual, not compact, and I don't have this poblem at the moment.

Just to maake sure, you stated in your OP that you did a factory reset, did you also try phone repair? They are totally different.

Yes mate

I did both (repair and also a flash with flashtool).

I'm an experienced user, a rom maker and a kernel dev... I also would like to help sony community, investigating and solving this issue.

It is not bad like the one in Oneplus one but it exists and I0m pretty sure it depends on touch digitizer firmware

Nice to meet you, I'm not as expert in software as you, just an experienced user. But this bug looks nasty, is it triggered by something or it's always present? Did you try it in Safe mode?

yes, this is because i think it's a touch driver issue and it's not cause by any other app

BTW can we submit this issue to Xperia Devs?

I had to use the Chinese keyboard and I noticed the ghost swipe when using the letters m and a. But only sometimes and only on Chinese keyboard. Does not bother me so I'll wait for the update, just wanted to report it.

Yes it happens but it is not urgent... I noticed this also in an online review...
