Although I can understand your point on this, I do agree with Samuel. This may be a problem with the OS, say if the OS had an issue prior to the download and only comes to light when this update is downloaded. The stats do show Android System as well as Google Play Services.

So I do suggest trying this task, but make sure to back up the device first.

Recently the battery has been draining crazy fast on my Xperia SP. There is high cpu usage and wakelocks from Google Services/Framework and Android System. They are related, as once I manage to make one disappear, both do. Have tried everything but to no avail, only uninstalling Google Play Services works.

There is high cpu usage even when doing nothing. Battery lasts under 24 hours with screen off all the time. Been like this the past week at least.

The basics, restarting phone, uninstalled several apps, uninstalling google play services and reinstalling, wiping cache from everything google related.. Nothing will solve this except uninstalling google play services completely or rolling back to factory version but it will just update itself again. Immediately after uninstalling google play services, cpu usage drops to zero, phone cools down and stops being laggy.

There is a thread on xda forums where a few others have the same issue and most have a Sony phone on Android 4.3. I don't have this issue on my other phone with Android 4.3 (Xiaomi Redmi 1s)

I suggest that you try to repair the phone software using PC Companion..

Before repairing your device you may want to backup your information first. Check out this topic for more information on how to.
How to backup?

If the issue should still remain I think that this needs to be examined and fixed at a repair center. For more information about how to submit your phone for repair and where, contact your local support team.

I don't see how that would help, this particular problem only appeared recently and seems to be related to google play services not functioning properly. Everything is fine once google play services is uninstalled.
