Settings changes won't hold

Recently bought an xperia z1s phone from eBay. I've noticed that changes that I make like shortcuts on homepage, brightness setting and sleep timer setting revert back to what they were before I made the changes when I turn phone off. New shortcuts are gone, brightness is back to max and sleep timer is back to 30 secs. That's what I have noticed so far. How do I get my changes to take hold?

Well, these settings should not reset every time you restart the phone. I suggest that you try to repair the phone software using PC Companion..

It is possible that you have bought a demo unit.
