Hello,

I have a Sony xperia z2, but when i enter the Device ID that you've requested, they told me my device is Z1. i m sure there is an explanation for this!!!!!!

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

I've checked the IMEI-number you have registered with us and your phone is a Z2 (D6503). The phone you have is however not a unit meant for sales so depending on where you check the phones IMEI it might not be identified correctly.
If you bought this phone at a store i recommend that you contact your dealer to check that they gave you the correct phone.

THEN WHAT IS IT MEANT FOR?

Maybe,plenty of users also facing the same problem.So some clarification is needed,if possible.

Thank's for the answer, i have a problem with the android version, my phone can't be updated to 4.4.4 android version, i think this issue is related to the IMEI

Hmm...

If you connectyour phone to PC companion,does it detect as Xperia Z1 or Z2?

A major mislabelling of IMEI over here.

If it wasn't meant for sales then it's possible it's a demo unit for display purposes or for journalists to write a review so 4.4.4 may not be released for it

But i think even the demo unit can be updated.Earlier in February i went to a local Sony Center and tried Z1,where in which i saw that it is running on 4.3JB.

If its true,then anouar,you gotta bring your phone to place where you bought them and then go to your local Sony Xperia Center for further issues regarding your updating compability.

There's a high chance that they might perform a factory reset and reinstall the softwate.

So its best for you to make a backup before taking it to your local shop/Sony Xperia Center

The update to Android 4.4.4 has not been released for these units and i'm afraid i don't know when/if it will be.

I recommend that you contact the place of purchase to make sure they gave you the right phone or that you contact your local support team to see if they can assist you.

As Thommo says, a unit not made for sales can for example be a demo unit made for display in stores (these usually runs in a demo mode which can't be disabled) or a unit made for demonstration purposes and/or journalists. The phone in this case is a unit made for example demonstration purposes and journalists.

Thank you for the help, yes i think it's about the IMEI, and it detect as Z2.

Thank you again for the help, i used flashtool to update my android version to 4.4.4
