No, I know the reset "button" is red, but I've checked on the ride side where the sd card is put. If you pull out the data plate you see a little strip. Is this water indicator or something else ?

Waterproof... Nope.

So I've had my Xperia Z2 for almost two months now, and had been working fine, except for the waterproof feature.

After taking numerous videos underwater, and sharing them with friends, the phone decided to malfunction (AFTER ONLY TWO MONTHS). The ports to both the MicroSD slot and SIM slot were fully sealed (as always) yet after about two minutes in my pool of 3ft. the screen shut off - yet volume and vibration functionality remained. I dried and let the phone sit on a towel for about five minutes and then the phone began vibrating without stoping for over twenty minutes until (what I assume) the battery died.

I've taken the phone in to my service provider (Bell) who have now sent it to SONY for examination.

I can't wait to see what SONY says as I have been able to save the memory card and have the videos leading up to the one cut off. Obviously there must be a chasis defect as both the rear lens and flash developed condensation.

Oh and just as a heads up, if your lens does develop condensation inside from being in the water, you probably have a defect. The first time I brought my phone under water it became foggy and the only way I was able to fix it was by plugging in the charger and leaving the camera on so it would dry it internally, it took approximately 10 minutes.

Hopefully SONY can fix these sealing errors soon as there are others in the market that also offer a waterproof feature.

As of now I have to wait 2-4 weeks for a phone that I had to switch carriers for... not too impressed.

Hi, if a Sony Rep gets back to you before you get it back ask them to make sure a vacuum test is carried out BEFORE they do anything to your phone and AFTER its been repaired :smileysmileywink:

Hi, vacuum test is the definitive proof that your mobile is waterproof......out of interest, what colour were the tags under the flap (if you checked)......red shows water ingress...white shows no ingress (thru the flaps that is) :smileysmileywink:

Is this info about red tag verified by Sony ? My Z2 has not seen any water yet, but I see the tag is red, at least at the end of tag, I can't see deeper.

So definately water found a way into the phone. Yet the rubber seal was dry on the sides (the area that actually squeezes to the frame of the phone).

Ironic how when people ask where my waterproof phone is i have to tell them "I sent it in for water damage..."
