buzzing sound when headphones connected

whenever I press on something I hear this mechanical buzz for 5 seconds then it stops until I press something else.

How do I fix this, should I return this phone?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

That is certainly not normal, however please try this as a possible fix: Main Menu > Settings > Apps > Smartconnect > Clear Data.

I get the audio buzz when I play a YouTube video - I no longer get the buzz from other apps - how do I fix it on the YouTube app?

The buzzing static is still there even when I mute the headphones. I press play on a YouTube video and I get static buzzing, which continues until I pause the video - and after 5 seconds it stops.

Its driving me mad :S

Sorry for so many posts, if I use the walkman app the static buzzing is constantly on until I restart my phone or after a long delay.

Even when the headphones are fully muted >.<

That is odd, however this is pointing to more of a software issue so I would advise trying a firmware repair:

Please note that performing these steps will delete all user data except for your media files (photos, music and video).

If your handset is able to be powered on and unlocked you can follow the below steps to back-up your personal data prior to running the repair.

Backing up your handset

To back up your phone using PC Companion
1. Go to Support to install PC Companion on a Windows computer.
2. When installed, start PC Companion on the computer.
3. Connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable.
4. Click Start under Backup & Restore.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Exactly what contents will be backed up may differ depending on phone model.
You can view detailed information about this as you follow the steps in the Backup & Restore wizard.

Running the software repair

Before you start you have to download the PC Companion software and install it on your PC.

Once installed on your PC, double-click the PC Companion icon on your desktop to start the update.

Please ensure your phone is powered off and not connected to the PC when you begin this process. You are not required to connect the phone until after step 10.

1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.

2. Phone Software Update.

3. Start.

4. Repair Phone

5. Continue

6. Accept data removal

7. Next

8. Wait for prepare

9. Select Phone

10. Follow the connection steps

Hello!

I have the same problem on my sony z3 compact.

I bought the phone one month ago and I tried to do everything you suggest but with no improvements at all.

I have this problem only when I use an headset with a microphone (such as the one in the box). If I use normal headphones without a mic I don't hear any buzzing when I m touching my phone.

Could you please help me?

I have nearly the same problem: whenever I plug headphones (with or without microphone) I hear buzzing, and it doesn't stop. I cleared smart connect data, even uninstalled updates, but nothing happens, the problem is: I don't have a windows PC...
