Stuck in Safe Mode - Suggestions/Help

Hi folks,

I purchased my z1 compact in April, the phone has been working perfectrly until yesterday.

I was boarding a flight and instead of using flight mode I just turned off my phone, once we landed a turned back on my phone and it has been stuck in safe mode ever since. Also the volume down key will also not work.

I had no issue with the volume keys until safe mode appeared.

I have tried a diagnostics check but each time I try to use that option I get "unfortunately diagnostics has stopped"

I have tried holding the power button with the volume up button, but no luck with a fix.

I have used the phone under water with flaps all fully closed to keep it water proof and the phone has always worked perfect until yesterday.

I have also backed up the phone and re installed the latest software update and still no fix.

I have completed a factory reset and still no joy.

Is there anything else I can do to try and fix the issue. If it is a hardware issue I will be fairly annoyed as the phone is only two months old as my previous phone was a galaxy s2 which I did not have an issue with for three years.

I have contact sony ireland and I am just waiting for a response.

Does anyone else have an ideas of how I might fix the issue, and also any ideas of what has casue the above.

This is due to a defective volume down button.I do not think there is anything else you can do beside having the phone repaired.

Update,

I have not heard back from Sony yet.

I contacted Amazon as I purchased the phone through them and they have sent out a new Z1 compact to replace my one.

So here's hoping I have just been unlucky with my Z1 and the new phone won't cause any issues as I really am loving the Z1 compact

I also hope this.But Sony should give you an answer soon,sometimes they move a little slow.

Sony replied today, suggesting to reinstall the latest software which I had previously done,

I followed there way step by step and still no joy.

Looks like it is a hardware issue.

Just another update...

Still using the phone until the new one arrives from amazon.

Today the phone started turning the volume down by itself. This allowed me use the volume key for a few seconds but I have not been able to use it since.

Through the day it has been turning itself down and the volume down key is still unresponsive.

This is a strange problem,I do not know how could you overcome it until the new phone arrives.
