I have a problem with this also, in that probably 90% of the time I have tried it, it says it's unable to locate it and will email me when they find it, an email is yet to come afterwards.

Hello!

I figured since I had the brand new phone, I should set up the my Xperia thing so that if it's stolen or lost I can find it, just as it advises.

Well... the 'locate' function doesn't report where it is. In fact, it thinks it's about 230 miles away, next to a reservoir... in the back end of nowhere... apparently.

I assume there's something wrong with the setup of it and that this can be fixed, otherwise I sure hope I never lose it!

Does anyone know what the issue might be?...

I personally turned the "my Xperia" option off and just use the "standard" Google device manager (www.android.com/devicemanager/). I don't know if there are any Xperia specific features, but I didn't notice any over and above what Google already offer and that works for me. It's also one less thing for my phone to do in the background.
