Without turning the phone on silent, the sound is off, both for incoming calls, reminders and alarm clock.

Even the vibration is off! But the settings look OK and I have not changed them, I miss calls and I missed my wake up alarm this morning. Yes, I have restarted the phone twice. Also, I get "Network busy" message when trying to phone Sony Support in Norway.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

I suggest that you to run your phone in safe mode for a while to check if you still experience this. If not this may be caused by any downloaded application.
How to boot into safe mode?

If this is not caused by any installed application you may want to try using another SIM card or try to reinstall the phone software using Update Service..

Before reinstalling your device you may want to backup your information first. Check out this topic for more information on how to.
How to backup?

If the issue should still remain I think that this needs to be examined and fixed at a repair center. For more information about how to submit your phone for repair and where, contact your local support team.

I have had the same Z1 problems listed by original poster, DaffyP. With normal settings, I’ve started to miss calls, notifications, and alarms. I tried restarting it, without results.

However, Johan’s advice to run it in Safe Mode for a while has worked, in that all my sounds are restored (calls, notifications, etc.). Therefore the problem “may be caused by any downloaded application.” Thank you, Johan.

My question now is: When I leave Safe Mode, how do I find out and fix the downloaded app that may be causing the original problem?
