The covers are completely shut thats why I'm here asking is this normal? My phone is not broken. It's just tiny water entering the covers. And I was pouring water on it, I didn't put it under water. I don't have a good camera to take a picture of the inside covers getting tiny bits of water. Thanks tho.

Water should not enter, you might want to take it to a Sony repair center and request the vacuum test as there might be a manufacture issue.

So I'm the only Z1 user here who got this problem? What does Vacuum test do? Any Z1 users here try pouring water or putting you're Z1 in the water and check if theres a little tiny dots of water on the inside covers?(At the Sides)

Note: I bhought the phone online.

Water should not be able to enter the phone when holding it under pouring water with all covers closed.

I recommend that you contact a service location for further investigation.

Vacuum test means that the service location tests the phone to see that's there's no leakage when covers are closed.

You are not the only one. I just experienced it myself. I bought Xperia Z1 7 days ago.

I wash the phone gently with a normal water tap at my kitchen for less than a minute with all flaps closed tightly.

After 30 minutes, the phone went dead. I open up all the flaps, the indicator are white but I saw few drop of water in there.

I went to Sony Service Center, I ask for a new replacement of the unit. I told them you shouldnt get me to pay for a defective unit and wait for you to repair a defective unit and throw it back to me. I am paying the full price, not sub-discount for a reject or defective good. I have not get any reply from them yet and they ask me to wait for 2 weeks without a phone.

Let look at the test result on Sony page and what they have advertised as one of the feature of the phone.

We can bring this up and sue them for pushing the defective cost to the consumer if they are throwing back it to you without a new replacement.

Including test results IPX8 - which allow submerge into water.
http://www.sonymobile.com/my/legal/testres...mera-waterproof

Page 119 -120 stated below from Sony.

Your device is waterproof and dust resistant in compliance with the Ingress

Protection ratings IP55 and IP58 (see details below). These ratings mean that your

device is dust resistant and is protected against low pressure water stream as well as

against the effects of submersion for 30 minutes in fresh (non-saline) water up to 1.5

metres deep. You can therefore use the device in dusty environments, when your

fingers are wet, and in extreme weather conditions, for example, when it’s snowing or

raining, or when humidity levels are high. See the table below for more details.

The IPX5 and IPX8 ratings are based on tests lasting 30 minutes in water depths of 1.5 metres.
Go to www.sonymobile.com/testresults for more information.

Here is the manual guide for Xperia Z1.
http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/09/14/xperi...-now-available/

Actually that happens to me. I have submerged it a few times with no problems and the last time I saw an air bubble pop from the port so I freaked out and took it out right away...

But when I opened it there were only 1or 2miniscule droplets around the edges but not actually inside the sim or USB port, I thought that was normal as if you have a look it seems like the waterproof band is not right on the edges of the cover meaning a little water will get through the cover but not through the waterproof part of it

Someone correct me if I'm wrong though!

Both are the photo taken, you can see great moisture has developed inside the camera lens.

Today I have spoken to Sony Customer Service, he insisted to repair the phone and there wont be a replacement with new unit. I have told him I only owned it for 7 days and you are expecting me to purchase a defective units from Sony and let sony to repair it and give it back to me. I told him why dont you go into a reject shop and purchase a shirt with normal price tag, within few days you have discovered a hole in the shirt and return it and I will sew the hole and give you back the shirt.

I have requested escalation to their management, if they still insist, I am going to take action from my side.

Sony is cheating the consumer.

I am waiting for a hope, as they insisted it is their SONY Internal Policy for not allowing new replacement unit even it is a defect from their manufacturer, they will only offer to repair it for you. I have told them, go and buy a reject shirt and pay normal price, found few holes within few days, I will sew back and give you to wear again.

I am planning to take legal action by next week when I do not hear anything from them without a new replacement for their defect or full refund back to me, they are insulting me as a consumer.

@Adha90 They have found out it is a defect on my phone and Sony Service Center manage to get approval for a new replacement for my phone. I asked if I am getting a refurbish unit, but they promised it will be a new unit and was told to wait until next week. Hope I am getting it next week with a new unit.

I am very happy with the Service from Sony. They have replaced with a new unit for the defective unit which I had owned.

waterproof indicator turned red??

while changing my sim card during an update process, i notice my waterproof indicator has already turned red, which obviously means there is water leak signs. the problem now is, i've never left any of the cover flips open within any watery area. the only times my device has interaction with water is to wash away dust using normal tap water. how is this possible? i've done some googling and found this http://www.xperiablog.net/2013/08/05/some-xperia-z-owners-complain-of-loose-back-panels-water-resistance-compromised/ instead. do advice me what steps should i take next. do i need to get my device checked? what if Sony is pushing the responsibilities back to the users? fyi, my xperia Z's indicator is still white in colour after so many wash, how could xperia Z1 not living up to its waterproof claims?

My Z1's camera looks like this.. It has tiny droplets of water in it and dont know how to get it out.. I did not submerged it in water i just washed it from the sink for a good 30 seconds i think. In a few minutes the screen went black and wont power up..
