no sound after update

i just got my xperia sp like a week ago...when i connected it to my pc the sony companion showed an update so i updated my phone. But ever since the update there is no sound in my phone as well as it is unable to play songs or videos or even record audio...it gives the message UNFORTUNATELY SOUND ENHANCEMENTS HAVE STOPPED WORKING.....please help what should i do...i am kind of a noob at all this as it's my first android phone

also when someon calls i cannot hear them nor can they hear me....also when i try to turn on xloud or clear phase it won't turn on and when i open volume settings the phone hangs

should i do a factory reset using SUS???

it just asks me to re-instal;l the software when i try to use the SUS to repair it....should i just re-install it or is there some other way to repair it????....

That's how your repair your phone, by reinstalling the software.

did that but it did not fix the issue.....still no sound still not able to play videos gettin the error UNFORTUNATELY SOUND ENHANCEMENTS HAVE STOPPED WORKING...

reinstalling would help just remeber to back up your data on your phone using pc cpmpanion

even doing a factory reset did not solve the problem....what else can i try....should i get the handset replaced as it is only a few days old???

that my friend is another option and would advice you take it as it might be a faulty hardware issue. back up all you have now and get it replaced and update new phone to latest software . cheers

yes i've tried both...i tried factory reset as well as repair with SUS... it's now updated to 12.0.a.2.254

everything else is working fine except for the sound and playing video....

DO YOU HAVE previous backed up data if yes revert to it see if the sound comes back

did that as well no luck there problem is it's not even recording voice can't hear anything when someone calls or i call someone...

Then I'm afraid you'll have to go exchange it for a new one to have peace of mind sadly that's the only other option I see

ran the xperia diagnostics app......everything was ok except for the

loudspeaker & ear speaker which failed and diagnostics crashed when i tested the microphone.....the update i did was 12.0.A.2.254.....is there any way to go back tothe previous version....
