Strange icons and old status' in my contacts list

Can anybody help me with this bizarre issue I have on my XS?

In my contacts list I've noticed that really old Facebook status' are showing next to people who have Facebook. I've tried syncing manually but it makes no difference. Also whereas on my old phone there would be the blue FB icon next to the status under their name, it is now a random icon every time I open contacts. Sometimes a pizza slice, sometimes a magnifying glass, etc etc!

That's odd enough but when in contacts, when I click menu > settings > show status updates, I see this screen:

Surely this is the screen where it should list things such as Facebook, Twitter etc - what on earth is 2.0dip?!

Sounds like something may have screwed up.

Any ideas what though?

I'm not an expert on the coding of the Android operating system but I use dip on some of my websites coding to define the height, width and margin when intergrating Java - So I can only guess that Android has Java and it may have gone a little haywire possible through a conflict of apps or the coding has been amended - My only advice would be to run a repair unless the Sony support can offer a better or definitive answer

I actually have no idea where this comes from. Never heard about or seen it at all! Strange.

Well, the only thing that comes to mind is some software issue, so try repairing/updating the sw in your phone via PC Companion. Download and install it from here:

Thanks for the replies above.

I guess the only thing to try is a repair, like you say. It'd be ideal if the latest firmware was available for my phone but I am still on 6.1.A.0.453. If I could update it may fix the problem. I'd probably rather wait until an update actually is available and try that - any ideas when I should get an update? I'm on O2-UK. Also if I were to do a repair, what happens to the data on the internal memory (SD type space, not the 'phone memory') as there's no SD card in this model?

Just for further info, this is what my phone book looks like with the status' underneath the (blanked out) names - turns out it wasn't a pizza slice but looked like one on my phone! :

I wonder where these random icons have come from??

The files on your SD card will be safe - Those icons you see may be linked to your issue and your Android operating system is looking else where for images instead of where it should be - The dip issue as mentioned above is definately linked to Java and coding

Thanks again for the reply. Seems very odd. I am guessing some app I have used in the past has screwed this up, but then again I can't find anyone else who has experienced this issue.

Samuel - are you able to give me an idea of when I should have a firmware update available? I will then do a restore. Others seem to have had updates back in early September.

Well, that depends on which software you are on right now and if the update is released for your customization yet. If you connect the phone to PC Companion it will tell you if the update is available for your phone. It's released for most batches so most likely you can update it right away.

I am currently on 6.1.A.0.453 still yet I gather there have been 1 or 2 updates since this version which apparently improve responsiveness of the phone.

Even when looking on here http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/software/phones/xperia-s/ I see that it says the latest version has been available since 3rd September, but each and every time I plug my phone in to my PC and load up PC Companion, it says my phone is up to date.

If .453 is for the UK which is where you bought the phone then there is no updates to 2.45, 2.50 or 2.55 if there was then my PCC would tell me but it hasn't not that I want the update - Well not untill the wi-fi issue is fixed
