Microphone problems after Pie update

After upgrading to android 9 Pie, my microphone started to malfunction... Prior the update, the sound quality was really great and now its distorted and sounds like I'm screaming into the mic.

The sound quality now is ridiculous, did anyone else have that and managed to fix it?

Are you referring to phonecalls or using the camera (video) or a third party app (whatsapp, hangouts, skype, etc)?

With third party apps, like whatsapp, facebook messenger, audio recorders...

I see, in that case there's nothing wrong with your phone, headphones, it's an app issue, since those are third party apps, it will be up to the app devs to address it
