After some online reading the advice was to do a factory re-boot (unplug, hold down power and volume down button and re-plug). Now the TV has an ‘erasing’ circle sign but then goes to an ‘error’ sign (basically a robot flat on its back with its stomach open!). It does that ‘erase’ and ‘error’ in a constant loop.
